Whitfun Weekend 2016
The Bank Holiday weekend saw Spanish Water Dog Rescue pull out all the stops to hold their third Whitfun Weekend which is kindly hosted by Joan Hubbard. As this year is the 25th Anniversary of the introduction of our breed to the UK SWD Rescue were keen to celebrate in style and celebrate they certainly did with double the numbers attending and 20 camping units staying on the field. The weekend saw SWD and several other breeds trying a wide variety of activities including agility, gundog training, Wagg&emdash;it games, hoopers, Spanish Agility, trick training and hydro pool sessions. Their owners also enjoyed a fun quiz, bbqs and fun dog show. The weekend ended with the Crystal Maze Challenge in which teams took part in a variety of challenges to collect crystals with the winning team receiving a trophy and individual keepsake crystal keyring. The whole weekend was a great success with lots of happy dogs and handlers enjoying spending time together in a friendly and supportive environment and try new things. Spanish Water Dog Rescue have received so many positive comments about the weekend and the renewed inspiration handlers have for training and working with their dogs. It's wonderful to see the impact such events have on those attending. Spanish Water Dog Rescue would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this event so successful, those involved in organising it, the guest trainers (Pauline Jackson, Guy Radford and Julie Bearder) and most of all the dogs and handlers who came along and joined in the fun so fully. The weekend raised a magnificent £2041.50 for SWD Rescue, a fantastic achievement.
